Tamburlaine
Wines
Named
after a 14th Century warrior prince,
Tamburlaine Wines is situated in the
rolling foothills of the Brokenback Range,
at Pokolbin, in the heart of the Hunter
Valley wine country. 1966 was the birth
year of Tamburlaine's Pokolbin Vineyard ~
one of the first Hunter 'Boutique'
production vineyards producing quality
warm climate wines.
In 1997
100 hectares of grapes were planted in
Orange to introduce cool climate varieties
to further enhance the Tamburlaine range.
Tamburlaine is one of the first wineries
in Australia to adopt an environmental
management system and today practises
organic growing methods and organic wine
production.
Tamburlaine's
entire Hunter Valley vineyard and Orange
vineyard are managed organically to
Australian Certified Organic standards and
audited by the Biological Farmers of
Australia. In addition, from the 2006
vintage, the Tamburlaine winery is a
fully-certified Organic Wine Processor.
Tamburlaine
winemaking finds a comfortable balance
between creativity and science. Our
winemakers are professionals with a
commitment to the best of modern
technology with respect to the great
traditions of the Hunter. The top wine
commentators of Australia recognise the
standards achieved by the winery team, and
the awards gained in local and national
shows include Trophies and Gold Medals for
both white and red wines alike.
Tamburlaine wines, in the words of the
editor of Winestate Magazine 'reflect that
certain richness that is distinctively
Hunter Valley, while possessing an
innovative style'.
Each
Tamburlaine vintage is unique, with fruit
sourced from their vineyards in the Hunter
Valley and Orange Highlands. From there,
attention to detail in the winery is of
paramount importance to the winemakers to
produce the best results possible in the
bottle. Tamburlaine wines are flavoursome
and approachable when young, yet have a
fine pedigree of aging. Whether you are
looking for a classic Hunter Semillon,
Chardonnay, Verdelho and Shiraz or enjoy
exciting cool country wines like Riesling
and Sauvignon Blanc, please come and
experience our hospitality at the winery.
