Meerea
Park
Meerea
Park is a family owned winery making
handcrafted wines using cutting edge
winemaking techniques and philosophy from
some of the Hunter Valley's oldest and
best vineyard sites.
We are
Hunter Valley "terroirists"; specializing
in individual vineyard Semillon and
Shiraz, sourced from unique vineyard
sites, each being quite different, the
wines expressing clearly where they are
from.
Winemaker,
Rhys Eather is a Roseworthy (Adelaide
University) graduate in Wine Science and
has gained international winemaking
experience in France and Italy. Spending
the 1998 vintage at M. Chapoutier in the
Rhone Valley gave Rhys the experience and
insight required to craft top quality
Rhone styled wines, which he openly admits
as to having a great passion
for.
Meerea
Park was the first to release a Shiraz
Viognier from the Hunter Valley, and along
with Viognier, we are the largest producer
of these exciting new wave varieties in
the region.
Along with
our modern Hunter style, Meerea Park can
trace it's winemaking roots in the Hunter
Valley back to the 1850's when Alexander
Munro, our great-great-grandfather
established the 'Bebeah' vineyard at
Singleton and was at one stage the largest
and most successful winemaker in New South
Wales. During his winemaking career he
amassed over 2000 awards at wine shows
around the world.
Our labels
bear the image of an ornate drinking
fountain and gas street lamp that
Alexander Munro commissioned, had made in
Scotland and then shipped to Singleton.
When he retired as Singleton's first mayor
he gave it to the municipality where it
was erected in George Street adjacent the
Caledonian Hotel which he
owned.
Meerea
Park has established a reputation over the
last decade as one of the leading boutique
wine producers in Australia, having won
over 300 wine show awards at national and
international wine shows in the last 6
years. We have also received many
accolades emphasizing high quality and
exceptional value for money for our range
of wines.
